Calgon Carbon to Acquire Industrial Reactivated Carbon Business from Sprint Environmental Services, LLC
PITTSBURGH, PA – 05/14/2024
Calgon Carbon Corporation (“Calgon Carbon” or “Company”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuraray Co., Ltd. (TYO: 3405) (“Kuraray”), announced today that it entered into an exclusive agreement with Sprint Environmental Services, LLC to acquire its industrial reactivated carbon business, which includes 21 employees and an industrial carbon reactivation plant located outside of Houston, Texas.
“This acquisition is natural fit,” said Lisa Reese, Senior Vice President, Industrial Solutions and Diversified Applications. “Industrial carbon reactivation has seen tremendous growth in the past few years, and demand for carbon reactivation as a recycling and disposal solution is being recognized as a best practice for several industries.”
The transaction is expected to be finalized in July 2024.
The Company currently has five strategically located reactivation plants across the United States, two of which are capable of handling RCRA hazardous waste. Not only a cost-effective solution, but carbon reactivation also allows customers to eliminate liabilities associated with alternative disposal methods, reduce CO2 emissions, and recycle the carbon.
